The Toyota Australian SUP Titles Wrap Up With The Crowning Of Marathon Champions

COOLANGATTA/QLD (October 15th/2015): Queensland’s Michael Booth has shrugged of a disappointing day three at the Toyota Australian SUP Titles to overpower a tenacious James Casey (NSW) in the last 100 metres to win the Open Men’s Marathon Race today in a time of 1 hour 41 minutes. Terrene Black (NSW) finished four minutes ahead of her nearest competitor in Belinda Stowell-Brett (WA) to take out the Open Women’s Marathon Race. On a day of great paddling conditions, other winners included Steve Walker(QLD) who took out the Over 40’s Men’s Marathon, Cristiana Chessa (WA), winning the Over 40’s Women’s Marathon Race, Lachie Lans down winning the Prone Men’s Marathon and Jurgi Zuzaika who took out the community Challenge Marathon Race. New South Wales took home team honors just ahead of rivals Queensland in a tightly fought battle across all disciplines. Valued Surfing Australia partner Toyota is again naming rights partner to the event, which has attracted nearly 250 of the country’s top SUP exponents who have competed across three disciplines durfing this week’s titles: surfing; technical race between 4-8km of several laps in and out through the surf; and a 20-30km marathon.
